The British fans are going crazy with their favourite star Mhairi Spence (GBR) having a 6 second lead over Amelie Caze (FRA). Swimming winner Leila Gyenesei (HUN) and Samantha Murray (GBR) being a further 12 and 23 seconds back respectively heading into the Combined Event.
The Women had a much better ride than the men with most of them having a solid ride. Both Sylvia Czwojdzinska (POL) and Heather Fell (GBR) had perfect rides to score 1200 points with Spence scoring 1180 to shoot her back to first. Leader going into the Riding Event Amelie Caze (FRA) had a disappointing ride only scoring 1120 with Leila Gyenesei having an even poorer ride with 1108.

Leila Gyenesei (HUN) has blitzed the field to win the swimming event in the Women’s Final. Gyenesei recorded an impressive time of 2:07.07 to beat Samantha Murray (GBR) and Amelie Caze (FRA) by more than 2 seconds. Winner of the fencing Mhairi Spence came a creditable 10th to stay in contention for a home medal in 3rd position after 2 events. Gyenesei has now forced her way up to 2nd position overall just behind Caze by 36 points. Olympic Champion Lena Shoneborn (GER) day continued to go poorly to be down in 15th overall which ruins her chance of Gold in GB. All the attention now turns to the horse riding. |
